Born in 1899 in Augusta, County Virginina, Stewart Drumheller was the oldest living child (he had an older brother who died as an infant) born to Adam Leslie Drumheller and Sallie Margaret "Maggie" Childress.
In 1900, Adam Maggie and Stewart were living in Crimora, Virginia with Adam's mother, Rebecca Shaver Drumheller Ferrill ( source 1900 census, Roll: T623 1700; Page: 19A Ancestry.com subscription required). In 1910, the family had moved to Middle River Virginia. ( Year: 1910; Census Place: Middle River, Augusta, Virginia; Roll: T624_1621; Page: 14A; Enumeration District: 31; Image: 569.) and included Adam Leslie, Maggie and children Stewart, Hattie, Eva, Cecil, Raymond and Floyd.
By 1920, Adam Leslie had left the family. Most of the children were placed with various friends and family around the county. Stewart was back living with his grandmother in Middle River (Year: 1920;Census Place: Middle River, Augusta, Virginia; Roll: T625_1880; Page: 11A; Enumeration District: 33; Image: 157.)
In 1923 Stewart married Margaret Burns in Page County Virginia. They had four children, Charles Stewart (1924) Alan Burns (1925) and two daughters who are still living. Sometime around 1942, Margaret took the children and went to Baltimore while Stewart was at work.
Sometime after his wife and children left, he moved to New York state, first to Syracuse and then to Ithaca. At some point he married Helen Louise Quick and together they had nine children, most of whom are still living. Stewart died in Ithaca in 1964.
